God, God's will, grace, Jesus Chrsit, mercy, Satan, Turbo

From the Movie Turbo
Over the weekend my wife – TL&T – and I took the Boy to see Turbo. As far as super fast snail movies go – it was not bad. In fact it was actually pretty good.
If I did movie reviews – and anyone that knows me knows I critique every movie I see – I would give Turbo four out of five whatever’s.

In Luke’s gospel, Jesus is quoted saying “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Luke 12:34 KJV).” In this verse he’s referring to what we pay attention to or where our priorities lie determines how or where we spend our time and live our lives.
I am not going to argue that – I mean Jesus said it, right?

What do you dream about?
I am not talking about flying through the clouds, falling off a building and landing in a tub a pudding – unless it’s warm and chocolate then we’ll talk later – no, I am talking about the dream that drives you. The one you talk to your friends about every chance you get. The dream that you imagine will catapult you to superstardom – or maybe the corner office, the one that keeps you up at night because you cannot wait to start working on it in the morning.

“Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded his empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for him.” — Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)
I love this quote.
From the limited research I did about Napoleon, I found nothing that would indicate that he was a Christian. It seems he had a strong belief in God, the Father, but was shaky on Jesus having lived at all.

Ever been in the middle of conversation with someone and they’re going on and on about something they want to do but won’t or can’t for a thousand reason that you’ve heard a million times?

How do you know the heart in me; when I hardly know it myself?
How do you love me so completely, when I cannot let go?
How do you know just what to say when I’m about to cry?
How do you know what the answer is and I do not know why?

OK, so, I worry. I worry all the time. I worry about the things I can control, sort of. I worry about the things I cannot control – which are most things.
I worry that I will never have a job I even remotely like. I worry that I will always feel inferior at the J-O-B I currently trudge through every day. I worry that I have missed every opportunity God has placed before me. I worry that people won’t like me if they know the things about me that God already knows.
I worry that people will not read this or the next 59 posts.
I worry that people will not laugh.
Did I say I worry? Boy was that an understatement.

Don’t you just love the “prosperity” gospel? It is so motivating and full of hope and joy.
That is until you realize that you’re not getting the things you’ve been told you’ll get.
Wait, where is my new car? New job? New house? The promotion that I don’t deserve in the first place?

I did not have a good day.
And you know what? I have strung several of these together. Still several short of my all time record.
It’s true.
I am beyond frustrated with my life, my job, my direction, my service for God. I spend countless hours contemplating what I am doing. What I am supposed to be doing. What I am not doing right. What I want to do. Why God won’t open a door for me to do something other than what I am doing? How will I, do I, know when I am doing what God wants me to do?
