**NOTE** Not only is today National Star Wars day – May the Fourth be with you – it is also the one year anniversary of mickholt.com. I have learned a lot over the last year but still struggle with some questions – as you’ll read below. Thank you, to everyone that reads PADAG regularly, has read in the past or will be reading this for the first time – I hope you find something of value here and if so, I would love if you joined in – or started – the conversation below. Be blessed and I look forward to building this community.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1- 8 (KJV)
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

American Sign Language, ASL, Christ, God's will, Jesus

“I Love You” in ASL
Several years ago I took American Sign Language classes and it was one of the best experiences of my life. It led to a very dark period for me but that was my own doing and – really – fodder for another post, or not.
That group of students was as eclectic as they come – or as you find in almost any community college class; regular students, house wives, security guards, people wanting an easy grade for their foreign language credit and a host of others.
Diversity was well served.

Christ, direction, God's will, grace, Jesus, mercy
I have not been very focused on PADAG recently. It is not that my interest in helping people find their way to God’s will has waned but to be perfectly honest, I have been so attuned to my own purpose that writing for this space has taken a back seat. This blog and all of you are on my mind all the time but my attention has been on other kinds of writing.

Bible, Christ, Facebook, God's will, Gospel of Matthew, grace, mercy, Satan

I don’t mean to brag but I am on Facebook – a lot!
See nothing to brag about there. In fact, I should probably cut back some of my “facebooking” – I love how we’ve turned a social media site into a part of speech.
VERB! That’s what’s happening.
The more time I spend mindlessly scrolling through what my friends from high school did over the weekend and who is seeing what movie the more I am aware of how it is used as a means to express your personal feeling and beliefs. You can freely rail against Liberals, openly assail the Tea Party, support this cause or that, post a picture for an hour to raise awareness for Autism, MS and the need for the BUCS to dump their failing…TEAM.
OK – I wanted to get mine in there too.

Christ, Christianity, God, God's will, Gospel of Luke, grace, Jesus, mercy

In Luke’s gospel, Jesus is quoted saying “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Luke 12:34 KJV).” In this verse he’s referring to what we pay attention to or where our priorities lie determines how or where we spend our time and live our lives.
I am not going to argue that – I mean Jesus said it, right?

“Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded his empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for him.” — Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)
I love this quote.
From the limited research I did about Napoleon, I found nothing that would indicate that he was a Christian. It seems he had a strong belief in God, the Father, but was shaky on Jesus having lived at all.

Don’t you just love the “prosperity” gospel? It is so motivating and full of hope and joy.
That is until you realize that you’re not getting the things you’ve been told you’ll get.
Wait, where is my new car? New job? New house? The promotion that I don’t deserve in the first place?

Christ, Devil, God, Jesus, Puzzles, Satan, trusting God
The chorus “…our God is an awesome God…” is not just good to sing, it is the truth. Too often, we take that awesomeness for granted.

I know I do.
The way He reveals His truths is, at times, a bit overwhelming. Did I say “a bit?”

Bible, Bible Study, Christ, God, grace, Jesus, mercy, Potato chips
Food For Thought

Photo By: The Delicious Life (Creative Commons)
There is nothing I like more than a good bag of chips. Nothing is more satisfying that digging into a fresh bag of salty slices of deep fried potato. I could easily sit and consume an entire bag without giving it or life a single thought.
I like plain chips – with ridges not flat, except Pringles. I like spicy chips, salty chips, chips with cheese and I really like BBQ chips. Recently, I discovered “kettle cooked” chips and let me just say, “where’s the next bag?”
No, really!
