You Don’t Have to Look So Hard for God’s Will

What is your direction?I have not been very focused on PADAG recently. It is not that my interest in helping people find their way to God’s will has waned but to be perfectly honest, I have been so attuned to my own purpose that writing for this space has taken a back seat. This blog and all of you are on my mind all the time but my attention has been on other kinds of writing.

Writing – period- has been on my mind and for the first time in, maybe my life; I am giving it the attention I think it deserves. The attention that I believe God feels it deserves.

And I am having a great time. I have met some great people that encourage and support me (three cheers for the 500 word folks).

Writing is one of the gift’s God has blessed me with and I consider it a form of worship when I am in the middle of doing what seems to come so naturally to me you’d think God himself was punching the keys of my keyboard.

Now don’t misunderstand, I AM NOT saying my blog or thoughts or anything that I write is divinely inspired or in the same league as scripture but I am saying is that when I am in the middle of God’ will I know it because everything is different. The words flow from a place  can scarce describe, the ideas comes as rapid as a hail of gunfire, the feel to the whole room is transformed, warm, inspiring, peaceful and sweet. And you want to know a secret?

You can know it too. You can have all those same emotions, feel all those same feeling. Be as free as you ever wanted to be to create whatever it is God placed you on the Earth to do or create. All you have to do is allow yourself to be used the way HE intends.

What does that mean? How does that look?

Well, the truth is, it looks different for each one of us. To start with you need to look at what it is you LIKE to do.

“Wait, didn’t you say this is what God wants me to do?”

Yes, yes I did and often the thing that God wants us to do to glorify him is something that he’s paced inside you, something that he’s programmed you with already. Something that you would do even if you were not getting paid to do it.

It is frequently referred to as “your passion”. Have you ever had someone ask you “well, what would you do if money were not an issue?” Not only is the answer to that question something you’re passionate about it could very well be what God wants you to do or use to glorify him.

For me, that thing is writing. Right now, I don’t make my living by writing but I do it , and since 1 JAN 2014, I do it every day. Some days I don’t even want to but I do – part discipline part worship. So, your thing might be medicine, so you become a doctor and worship God by helping people that are sick. Perhaps you teach and worship God by helping others learn. Perhaps you have a J-O-B – yikes but do I have some stories about those – and that is NOT your passion but you like to sing. Am I saying you need to run of to New York or Hollywood to worship God, well maybe you need to pray about that but, in the meantime,  you could sing in your church or for a local nursing home.

I believe it is quite likely you already know what God wants you to do – maybe the problem is you?

Thanks so much for this post. It reflects my heart completely.. These 52 days of focusing on writing have changed my life & confirmed my call. My own blog has been somewhat neglected as well. Writing has become my Meeting Place with God in a new, intense way. That will translate into my blog being a ‘ Meeting Place for others.

Linda, I am so excited that you’ve come to this understanding about your writing – has it really been 52 days? YIKES. It has changed my life too. I have no doubt that God will honor your “meeting place for others” as you continue to honor him at your own “meeting place.” Best of luck. Keep me posted and let me know if I can be of service to you in any way.

I love the way you describe how you feel when you are writing. “The feel to the whole room is transformed, warm, inspiring, peaceful and sweet,” is a beautiful description of a place where God IS. Thank-you for painting that picture. I know you are right in everything you said here, and I pray that I, too will be able to live and write in that place all of the time. Blessings to you and your writing.

Sharon, Thank you. I almost don’t have the words to respond – almost! I honestly believe that when we fully hand over the keys to the gift’s God’s given us and allow him to drive the car AMAZING things can happen. I will be praying that you, and I, can continue to write and live in that place. It won’t always be easy but it will be so worth the effort. Thank you for stopping by. Please let me know how it’s going for you and if I can help you in any way.

That is such a kind comment, Michael. I definitely plan to come over and read more of your posts. I would love for you to read one of my posts and comment. I’m at sharybary.wordpress.com Prayers are appreciated. Thanks again for the encouragement!

Always. Glad to have and need allies in this fight! I will stop by soon.

This post is awesome. It’s rarely about us not knowing the next step. What we want is 100% assurance of how everything will work out. But that’s not what God shows us. He shows us the next step and then tells us to get busy. So let’s get busy!

Once again, I’m checking out of this post with this peace in my heart. The one that could only have come from God. And it all thanks to you, Mick, for being bold to ‘stand up’ and share your message. If money were not an issue: I’d love very much to sit in a large room filled with books on bookshelves, plus a large desk and a swivel chair somewhere close to the back. Books neatly arranged on the desk, coffee jug, a laptop before me…just stay in there and write, write, write! I want no other thing than to create books, make novels, inspire men to make impact…do all that’s God purposed me to do with the love for writing and reading He’s given me. He’s done so much for me I constantly feel I owe Him (and the world) so much. And what better way than to use all the resources He’s given me? And it’s so grand that you’ve found what He wants of you. And you’ve gone this far to share too. Thanks for sharing this message once again, Mick. God bless and grace you more for bigger, stronger messages. Keep the dream alive. God’s got your back!

Hey, thanks so much for the encouragement. I would LOVE a big room filled with nothing but coffee and books too. You’re right – there is no better way to use the resources he’s given you than by glorifying him and sharing his message through your gifts.

Something to say? Grab the MIC!
