How often do we confuse what is important with that which is not?
For me, it’s every day. I am constantly looking for ways to improve my outlook, my situation my job.
My life.
It seems I often do it under the guise of serving God and bringing him glory but it’s not about that. Not in my heart. Not really. It’s about me. It’s what I want to do. It’s how I want to live. It’s how I want to be.
The same is true for you. You’re deceitful, greedy, a liar and in the eyes of God, a sinner.
But we’re both wrong. We’re all way of target. We’ve missed the mark. Misunderstood what life is all about. Possibly missed out on tons of things that were planned for us but our selfishness has blinded us to the truth.
And the truth is that this life, our lives, our stuff, our talents and abilities, jobs, cars, record collections, X-boxes is being wasted. This life is not about me and most certainly is not about you.
Well, now mister blogger, if ain’t about me then what is it about?
In a word, it is about what it is always been about – Jesus.
All the things going on – Paula Deen, Zimmerman and Martin, Iran, steroids, the GOP vs. the President, the economy, health care – are all chaotic and I believe this is by design because they force us to look for peace.
But not the peace that world knows because we all know what that gets us, less peace.
The peace I am talking about comes from one place and one place only. It comes to give life. It comes because without it we’re hopeless; we’re lost – destined to remain that way for all of eternity.
The peace I am talking about, that I desperately need and want you to experience comes in the person of Jesus Christ and ONLY in him.
The peace of Christ defies explanation. Or, as the Bible says, “…you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7 NLT – Emphasis mine).
What the peace of Christ does not buy us is safety. It buys us freedom. It does not guaranty we will not be persecuted. It guaranties will never be separated from God. It does not promise money, fame or fortune.
It promises Heaven – forever.

AMEN Way to say it!
Thank you sir, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting.
This was the line that I loved the most:
“What the peace of Christ does not buy us is safety. It buys us freedom.”
I have spent my life defining peace as a lack of anxiety. And there are plenty of things going on in my life and in the world to cause anxiety. Safety and security are offered by the world, yes, but they are *false* temptations. The only peace that truly brings PEACE is found in Jesus.
The only safety is salvation, and the only freedom is found in serving Him.
GOD BLESS!
Sharon,
First, thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I really appreciate your time.
Second, you are so right the “peace” the world offers if false. It offers false hope and a barely recognizable false love.
Please don’t be a stranger.
How did you find me? If you don’t mind me asking.
I won’t be a stranger, Mick. But I can’t guarantee that I won’t be strange from time to time!! I found you over on Sammy Adebiyi’s blog. I’m going to add your blog to my blog roll so I can keep updated with your posts.
Keep up the great work!
Be as strange as you want or need to be – I welcome, encourage and live it myself – nice to have someone along for the ride.
Sammy’s got a great site and he’s been beyond gracious to me. Love that dude, in a love that dude sort of way.
Thanks for adding me to your B-roll I do appreciate the support.
