Quick Thoughts – Guard Your Heart

This was part of my devotional today…
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7 (KJV).

I put myself down a lot and it’s not good for our hearts or our minds to hear this stuff. Because when stuff is repeated often we start to believe it’s the truth. God’s word says we’re “loved, chosen, redeemed and His children” just to use a couple of examples.

These are the truths we ALL need to be repeating to ourselves.

Please leave a comment if this resonates with you. Let’s talk about it.

In the Hebrew, it’s like “because like a gate in his soul, so is he.” The heart is what a person can think in (Genesis 17:17). Heart and soul are distinct. Heart is LEB, and soul is NEPESh. The soul aids in determining who an entity is. So if a person opens the gate and lets something into their soul, it can change who they are.

Exactly. I looked and you’re right. The two times the word “heart” is used in that verse, are, indeed, the two you mentioned. And as indicated, what they let in can be good or bad as we are the gate keepers.
