As a person who values words, how they’re used, why they’re used, the power contained within – the last several months have been extremely hard for me to walk through – quietly.
In fact, I have been on a self-imposed moratorium – I mean, it’s my BLOG no one makes me write, right? – while I figure out what to say and how.
For me, the issue comes down to -and always does – how to speak the truth in love (Eph. 4:15)
From all the political stuff, the President, Russia, collusion, the Impeachment, Covid-19 now the death and violence that’s over taken our streets – there’s been no shortage of things to talk about – but what to say?
See, there are already so many voices, on every side of every issue. No matter which side I support, at this point – it’s all just noise.
Regardless of the topic, out of a fear of not being heard, both sides come out swinging, yelling and cursing. Now no one can be heard over the other and everyone is screaming…louder and louder and louder creating a cacophony of anger and vitriol.
Both sides have passion, and there’s nothing wrong with that and I hear it all. Both sides. I read the comments, blogs, scroll through feeds, look over the memes, check the stats.
Sometimes I nod in agreement other times I feel my blood pressure rising and I type my honest heartfelt opinion. Praise Jesus, I seldom hit enter. I quickly delete the text. Don’t misunderstand, I have opinions about everything going on – ask my wife and son, {rolling eyes} “Oh, he HAS opinions.”
I just do not allow myself to get dragged in.
But why not?
Easy, that’s not my fight? What is my fight?
Oh, I am so glad you asked.
Of all the issues we currently face in this county, the world, none is more important than the salvation of every single individual still walking the planet. So, I see my fight as one with eternal consequences – not temporary.
So, if you wanna talk climate change, riots, collusion or the wearing or not of masks, there are hundreds of other places you can go.
However, if you want to talk about Jesus..STEP RIGHT UP FOLKS! Wanna talk salvation? Pull up a chair. Got questions, doubts or misgivings? I’ll do my best to help you get the answers you seek.
The way I see it, God’s not bothered or worried about your questions and I don’t need to be either. I may not be able to fire off a response like I can movie quotes from the 80’s but I have a personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe, so, we’re covered.
