No Idea What I Am Doing

Well, I’M BACK!!!!

Hmmm, that was anticlimactic.

If you’re reading this, and you must be, then you’re clearly in the right place.

The “right” place for what you ask? Excellent question, I am so glad you asked.

You’re here for my glorious reentry into the world of writing/BLOGGING. What’s that? You’ve never heard of me? Well, I am actually good with that that – that means I have no expectations to live up to!

If you’ve been here before, and I am hoping some of you have, then you know this is the first post in a very long time. I took some time away from blogging to sort some things out, find myself if you will but I discovered that I already knew who I was, where I was and where I needed to go. I was right there with me.

Turns out, Clint Black was right, Every Where You Go, There You Are. Sage words, if I do say so myself.

So, here I am. Not with a brand new blog – though I am using a new theme and still working through the new bells, whistles and kinks (not the legendary rock band) – but a restart of what I was doing.

What was I doing? Another excellent question – it’s the head of the class for you. Well, most often,  I pondered, rambled, gave sketchy, seldom used – or even useful – advice, I asked questions, made declarations (I’m going to do comedy, I’m going to write a novel, I’m going to solve all of humanities issues – ok, that one I never declared), wrote poetry, made predictions and a fool of myself. In a word, I took my platform and elevated it to a place – it was NEVER meant to occupy.

So, now I am here. Where I belong – back at the bottom, humbled by, time, distance and a ton of grace.

What’s going to be different? My attitude for one.  I don’t deserve you my faithful or new reader and

Topics covered will stay in the same realm. I will talk about my faith in Christ and what God is teaching me through my experiences. I’ll talk about my writing, at every level – this blog, my pursuit of a novel and my continued dalliances in the fine art of comedy. I will continue to post about the importance of setting goals – and sticking to them, sort of “do as I say, not as I do” scenario. I might throw in the occasional thought or two about pop culture, movies, television and of course, music – which remains a passion for me – still learning to play guitar and drums (I’ve even made some progress the last year or two).

Politics will remain OFF LIMITS for me and will usually be deleted from the comments. Why? Wow, you ask such thought provoking questions. You deserve a gold star. The reason is the same as before, though I cannot say I ever articulated it here. It is not that I don’t care, pay attention or even have an opinion. It is because there are already too many blogs with that focus and I don’t want to contribute to the noise. In addition, I would prefer to lead you to knowing Jesus – either deeper than you do or a first time introduction and political opinions can hinder that. To me, you knowing Jesus is far away more important to me that who sits in, or who you want sitting, in the Oval Office.

‘nuff said? I agree.

So, my plan is to post at last once a week – and as random a decision as that is I have chosen to post on Tuesdays. Why Tuesdays? Gezze-o-pete, you’re on fire! It’s simple really, because today is Tuesday and I posted this. There you go, that’s it.

Ain’t science great?

I am planning to participate in Nanowrimo 2019 and will use the month of October to prepare for that. I will share how my prep is going, what I am learning about writing, novels, Nonowrimo itself and resources I find helpful. I already have a website and video source I will link to next time.

As part of my prep for November, I plan to spend a good deal of time writing during the month of October. Anyone familiar with Nanowrimo knows it takes an average of 1667 words a day to hit the required 50,000 words to win the event. So, my plan is to do that this month too – just not words that I want to use for Nanowrimo. I wonder how many more time I can put Nanowrimo in this post?

I would love it if you joined me on this odyssey. Would you like that too? COOL! There is a place below where you can enter your email address to subscribe. That way, you’ll never miss my odd musings weird thoughts or general silliness (General Silliness, aye, SIR!). Also, as a way to say thanks, when you subscribe, I’ll send you a link to a short little book I wrote called, Pick A Direction and Go! It is a few thoughts I have on how to find God’s will for your life. It is not an exhaustive how-to and it might even miss the mark for you personally – I just hope it helps – even a little.

If you’re ready to start this crazy ride I’d love to hear from you. Please, comment any time on any post and say whatever you like. I’ll respond to every comment.
