nanowrimo_2016_webbanner_participantThis weekend I failed. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that it was only my first weekend attempting NaNoWrimo (National Novel Writing Month) and I really only failed for the weekend.

And by “fail” I mean I have not written a single word on my novel since last Thursday. I stagnated at 5072 words.

However, I still 23 days – after today to make up lost ground.

So, why am I writing words here that don’t count toward my 50K? Good question.

To help you and solidify my resolve.

How is time your enemy?

I discovered this weekend EXACTLY why the creators of NoNoWriMo do this over the course of one month.

Too much time and you accomplish – SQUAT!

I was so confident in all the “free” time I was going to have this weekend and planned to fill so much of it with writing – that instead I allowed myself to get sucked into the bottomless abyss of “I have all day.”

There was no urgency. No push, no fire, no drive just plenty of time.

Whatever it is you’re NOT doing right now that you are putting off until later…

You do not have all the time in the world. You don’t even have the promise of the next 37 seconds.

Do it now. Do it like it matter because it does. Do it because your time…is running out.

Now I gotta go find some time to write…Oh wait, here it is…NOW

What are you NOT doing that you should be?
