Is God Speaking to You Through Your Own Words?

Recently I asked my son to do something – I forget exactly what it was but it needed to be done and I needed him to do it.
The following conversation took place:
The Boy
Why Daddy?
Me
Please don’t ask me why. Just do what I asked you to do. If I ask you to do something, I expect you to do it. No questions. You do not need to know the reason.
THE REVELATION
The words had barely left my mouth before the reality of what I had just said hit me.
How often do you think this very conversation takes place between you and God?  God says “do this” and you say “But Goooood”Have you said to your kids or co-workers “how many times do I have to tell you the same thing?”

I wonder sometimes if God is not up there saying, “THANK YOU!”
I know for me it happens a lot.
Far too often we choose to not do what God wants and tells us to do and He does not like it when we disobey.
I knew right away God was using my role as a father to teach me a lesson that my “heavenly father” knew I needed but I had not learned.
I have noticed, especially since becoming a father, that from time to time I will say something to the Boy and immediately think, “Man, is that what God is saying to me?”
THE PROBLEM
How much more could we do for God if we stopped asking why?
If we stopped waiting for an explanation from Him about His plan and just did what we KNOW we need to do.
But we don’t because we are, by nature selfish, evil, creatures only looking out for ourselves. The Bible says our hearts are “desperately wicked” (Jer. 17:9).
Wicked? Ouch!
Webster’s uses words like “morally; very bad. Evil” “Fierce, Vicious” “disgustingly unpleasant: vile” to define the word.  Here are some similar words. Do any of these sound like you? Me?
Wicked.
This is the hear t that beats in you and me. It is the thing that we pledge to God and every chance we get we turn from him to our own evil wants and desires.
James said Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin 4:17 KJV).”
We want to do good. We want to do what God wants us to do and what is best for us but, most of us – including me – frequently opt for the easy or pleasing way.
Not God’s way.
The Wicked way – that would be a good name for an album.
THE QUESTION
Have you had an occasion, with kids or even other adults, where the words coming out of your mouth could have been God’s words to you?
